Personal videography coaching in Vienna & while traveling

I offer individual videography coaching for emotional dog videos – both on location in Vienna and while traveling. No matter where you are, just ask – maybe I’ll be lucky and come to your area soon! The coaching sessions are available either for individuals or in small groups. In my sessions, I share with you all the knowledge I’ve built up over the years about filming professional dog videos – from the initial concept to the finished shoot.

Procedure of the coaching sessions

Previous knowledge:
You don’t need to have any prior knowledge of videography, but it is an advantage if you are familiar with the basics of photography and know your own camera well. This will allow you to make the most of the coaching and get straight into practice.

Theory & camera settings:
We start with the basics of videography by explaining the most important settings of your camera and showing you how to use it optimally for emotional dog videos.

Practical part:
I organize a human-dog team as models and we go straight into practice. I’ll show you how to record creative and moving clips yourself and give you valuable tips on how to capture the emotions and characteristics of your dog model.

Online coaching as a supplement:
The first part of my online coaching is included in the coaching so that you can refer to what you have learned at any time. You will also receive notes on all the important topics we covered. As video editing is difficult to teach in a face-to-face coaching session and is a skill best learned at your leisure on your computer, I offer you the opportunity to purchase my online coaching at a small discount afterwards so you can master the editing process at your own pace.Get in touch if you want to expand your knowledge and take your skills in filming emotional dog videos to the next level!

Frequently asked questions

Where does the shoot take place?

My shoots take place at various locations – in Vienna as well as throughout Europe and beyond!

As I live in Vienna, shoots in Austria are possible at different times of the year. If you are in the area or would like a spontaneous shoot, we can also arrange an appointment at short notice.
My job allows me to constantly discover new and exciting places for the perfect shoot and I usually spend several months of my year traveling. As I often plan these according to my clients’ requests, please send me a request well in advance if you would like a shoot at a specific location or in a specific region. I do my best to keep travel costs as low as possible and still offer you the best locations for the video shoot.

I look forward to finding the ideal setting for you and your dog!

No, every dog is welcome in front of my camera! Commands like ‘stay’ or ‘sit’ make it a little easier, of course, but even without them you can capture beautiful clips of any dog. Puppies look cute in everything they do anyway! If your dog can do tricks, that’s cool of course, but it’s not a requirement. The most important thing is that everyone, both you and your dog, feel comfortable and have fun – that’s when the best shots are taken!

The process of a shoot is relaxed and well structured to ensure we get the best out of your video. Here is an overview:

Getting in touch
It all starts with you getting in touch. Together we will discuss when and where you would like the shoot to take place. We will clarify whether you have any special ideas or wishes.

Planning
In a preliminary telephone or written interview, I will ask you a few questions to get to know your dog better. This allows me to adapt to his or her special characteristics. Does your dog have special characteristics, tricks or hobbies such as a sport? All of this can be highlighted in the video. We’ll also discuss what kind of location you prefer – do you want a diverse environment for varied clips or would you prefer a uniform backdrop?

Shoot
The shoot itself takes place in a relaxed atmosphere. My aim is to film as many different things as possible so that the finished video contains a wide variety of moments. We combine authentic, unposed situations with short instructions to capture certain scenes in the best possible way.

An important note: As I cannot retouch videos afterwards, everything that can be seen in the picture remains as it is. Therefore, make sure that your clothes are clean and fit properly. Avoid large objects in your trouser or jacket pockets, as they could otherwise stand out in the shots.

Editing
After the shoot, I review the footage and select the best scenes. I then suggest suitable songs for the video edit. As soon as the video is finished, I’ll send you the first version to view. If you would like to make any adjustments, I will be happy to implement them until the video is perfect.
Look forward to a unique result that captures the special bond between you and your dog in all its beauty!

Photo editing and delivery
After you have made your selection, I start editing the pictures. I make sure that each photo perfectly matches your dog and the mood of the shoot. You will then receive the final, high-resolution digital files, which you can print for private use or share on social media.

We keep an eye on the weather forecast a few days before the shoot and can react flexibly if necessary. If the weather is unfavorable, we decide together whether we will still carry out the shoot or schedule an alternative date.

As long as it is technically possible and the dog feels comfortable, the shoot can also take place in the rain or snow. In fact, such conditions can produce very beautiful and unique photos – the raw beauty of a rainy forest or the glistening snowy landscape often offer very special moments.

However, if the weather is so bad that we would prefer to postpone the shoot, we will find an alternative date if possible. In and around Vienna this is usually uncomplicated, for shootings on trips we look for a solution individually.

To make the shoot as pleasant as possible for you and your dog, there are a few things that are best to have with you:

Treats and toys: These help to attract your dog’s attention and keep him happy during the shoot.

Water for yourself and your dog: so that we all stay well hydrated – especially on longer shoots.

Leash and collar: If your dog cannot be taken off leash, it is advisable to bring a leash that is as thin as possible and a suitable collar so that it does not appear too much in the photos.

Brush: Especially if your dog has a long coat, it is helpful to have a brush with you in case something gets caught in the coat.

Weather-appropriate clothing: Especially in cool weather, it is important to keep both you and your dog warm. Warm clothing for you and perhaps a jacket or blanket for your dog to protect him between shots will ensure comfort during the shoot.

There are no fixed rules for your shoot – the important thing is that you feel comfortable! You should be able to move freely in your clothes and feel good during the shoot.

Especially for clips with you and your dog, the focus should be on the two of you, not on a flashy outfit. That’s why I recommend not wearing any large prints or logos that could be distracting. You should also make sure that your dog doesn’t blend in with you in terms of color.

As I cannot retouch videos afterwards, stains, wrinkles or dirt will remain visible. It is therefore helpful to make sure your clothes are clean and to check briefly before the shoot that everything is the way you want it.

Another important point: Please make sure that you do not carry any large objects in your trouser or jacket pockets during the shoot. They could stand out clearly in the shot and distract from the overall picture.

Especially with a dog that sheds a lot of fur, or if the shoot takes place in a natural environment, it makes sense to wear something that does not immediately attract dog hair or dirt.

In short: choose comfortable, simple clothing that you feel good in, that allows you to move around easily and that harmonizes with your dog.

Choosing the music is an important step in creating the right atmosphere for your video – after all, you want to enjoy it for many years to come. Here’s how we go about it:

Licensed song

In order to be able to publish the video legally, I only work with music whose rights I have acquired. I have a license for this from a provider that offers a large selection of high-quality songs in various genres.

Song suggestions from me

After I’ve gone through the material, I listen to suitable songs and put together a selection for you. Sometimes I’ll send you several suggestions, sometimes just one if I’m particularly impressed by a song.

Your wish counts

If you have an idea in advance – be it a specific genre, a mood or a text theme – let me know. Any guidance will help me find the right music for your video.

You decide

The final decision is up to you. If you are not satisfied with the suggested songs, I will be happy to continue searching – with your feedback on which direction it should take.

The editing starts with your favorite song
I only start editing the video when we have found the perfect song that you are 100% happy with. The music is a central part of the video and I want to make sure that it perfectly underlines your story.
The result is a harmonious overall work that perfectly combines your most beautiful moments in sound and vision.

It’s difficult to give a general answer, as the editing time depends on various factors – above all on my current workload and whether I’m at the beginning or end of a longer trip. While I can often edit photos ‘on the side’, I need absolute peace and concentration for video editing.

I do my best to keep turnaround times as short as possible and you can usually expect your finished video within a few weeks. However, your patience is greatly appreciated as every clip is edited with great attention to detail to achieve the best possible quality.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience – it will definitely be worth the wait!
